How to keep your computer and eGold accounts safe:
  • eGold account safety:

Open up 2 eGold accounts with 2 different e-mail addresses, make one of them eGold specific for safety's sake.

The 2nd eGold acct is for you to transfer funds to immediately from your other account for safekeeping until you move the money to your bank or use for purchase.

You are NEVER to use that 2nd eGold account to do any business online.

These are the correct links to the E-Gold website:
https://209.200.169.10/acct/login.html : (Bookmark one of these pages!!)
OR
https://www.e-gold.com

NOW READ UP:

Once you've signed up with E-gold, log back in to each of your account. You will click on "Account Info", then on "AccSent".

These are the CRITICAL things you need to know. I can't stress just how important these instructions are!! So pay attention, read up and follow through.

Account Sentinel Settings (AccSent) In Control Panel for E-GOLD should be:

1. Detect IP Address Change
Disabled
Medium (default)
High - Set This on HIGH

2. Detect Browser Change View help...
Disabled
Enabled (default)

3. Home and Work Mode View help...
Disabled (default)
Enabled

Ensure your Email address in the Contact section is correct before making changes to these settings.

Put in the Turing Number EACH time, click on Save.

Highest Protection From Unauthorized Access is achieved by setting Detect IP Address Change to High, Detect Browser Change to Enabled, Home and Work Mode to Disabled.

Automation Access:
Blocked (default)
Allow from IP*: View help...
Allow from Any IP Address
Only e-gold automation programmers should modify this attribute.
Other users should leave the default Blocked value in place.

Phone Access:
Blocked (default)
Allow from #**: View help...
Allow from Any Phone Number..
Only phone users should modify this attributes.
Other users should leave the default Blocked value in place.
Unless you have Dial up service.

*ALWAYS use either the eGold SRK pad or notepad system to enter your Passphase.

  • NEVER click on a link from a supposed eGold email. E-gold will NEVER include a link for you to click on...EVER!!
  • If you receive a supposed email from eGold that says you have to verify your info by going to the site, DELETE it immediately!!
  • If you go to log into your eGold account and after entering your login info, another window opens up to enter it again, DON'T.

Immediately shut the browser, clean your cache, cookies and files from the "Tools" section and turn off your computer.

All this is to let you know you can't be too careful when it comes to eGold.

The only time you receive an email from eGold is when you log in and it sends an email with the required pin for you to complete your access to your account... IF you have your AccSent set as per my above instructions.

  • INTERNET SAFETY

From now on, try to use Firefox for surfing and to access ALL your secure sites like eGold, On-Line Banking etc.Use Internet Explorer for checking your Email.

Make sure you download Firefox "No Scripts" Extension. Use the Options button.

Scan your computer everyday and update all your software every week or so. Make sure you get into the habit of scanning cleaning, and updating ALL your internet tools. Don't get complacent and forget to do these.

Also be careful of the sites you visit and what you download. Things happen I know. Nonetheless, our own efforts or carelessness go a long way towards keeping ourselves as safe as possible while doing the things we need to do online.

Depending on the size of your Hard Drive and Ram, you can/should also download Opera Browser. Much, much safer than InternetExplorer.
